Garden Fencing Installation and Repair Birkenhead

A well-fitted garden fence brings privacy, defines your boundary and gives your outdoor space a tidy finish. Whether you need an ageing fence replaced, storm-damaged panels repaired or a new gate fitted, Merseyside Fencing provides garden fencing installation and repairs across Birkenhead.

We install timber panel fencing, feather-edge fencing and picket fencing, with timber or concrete posts and suitable gravel boards. From a compact front garden to a long rear boundary, we help you choose a specification that suits your property, budget and preferred appearance.

Not every damaged fence needs replacing completely. Where the supporting structure remains sound, we can often replace individual panels, boards or posts while retaining serviceable materials. We assess the cause of the damage before recommending a repair or replacement.

Our service covers Birkenhead and nearby areas including Tranmere, Rock Ferry, Claughton and Prenton. We can also supply and fit bespoke timber garden gates, with removal and disposal of old fencing included where agreed in your quotation.

Before and After Installation in Birkenhead

Before Fence Installation Birkenhead New Board and Rail Fence Installation Birkenhead

Birkenhead New-Build Garden: From Low Ranch Fencing to a Six-Foot Timber Boundary

The original fencing at this new-build property in Birkenhead was a low, basic ranch-style fence. Although it marked the garden’s edges, its open rails offered little privacy or enclosure. The customer wanted a more substantial boundary that would make the outdoor space feel private and secure.

We replaced the low fencing with six-foot-high cross-and-rail timber fencing, creating a continuous boundary around the garden.

A More Substantial Fence

The new installation used timber posts and horizontal supporting rails with vertical timber boarding. This gave the boundary a solid appearance, replacing the wide gaps of the ranch-style fence with a much more enclosed finish.

At approximately 1800mm high, the new fencing provided greater screening from neighbouring gardens. It also created a stronger physical boundary, making the garden feel more clearly separated from the surrounding properties.

A Finish That Suits the Garden

The natural timber complemented the brick houses around the property, while the consistent fence line gave the garden a neat backdrop. Rather than drawing attention to separate sections, the coordinated posts, rails and boarding created a unified finish along the sides and rear.

The transformation was particularly noticeable in a new-build setting, where basic boundary fencing can leave an otherwise usable garden feeling exposed. The taller fence helped give this space a more established and private character.

The Completed Result

The replacement turned a lightly defined plot into a properly enclosed rear garden. The customer gained increased privacy, a more substantial boundary and an attractive timber finish that suited the property.

This Birkenhead project demonstrates how replacing low ranch-style fencing with full-height cross-and-rail fencing can change both the appearance and everyday usefulness of a garden.

Merseyside Fencing installs and replaces timber garden fencing across Birkenhead and the wider Wirral, with specifications tailored to each property.

Really pleased with the quality of work. Good communication and tidy-up afterwards. Made sure I was happy with the job before leaving.

Garden Fencing Prices in Birkenhead

The cost of a new fence depends on the specification and the work needed along your boundary. Fence height, post type, access, ground conditions and removal of existing materials all influence the quotation.

For panel fencing, our guide price starts from £125 per section, based on an 1800mm × 1800mm timber panel with concrete posts, including removal and disposal of the old fencing. This is a rough estimate, subject to a site survey. Your quotation will confirm whether gravel boards are included.

Cross-and-rail fencing built on site is quoted individually. The £125 panel guide does not automatically apply to this construction. We assess the required length, boarding, posts, rails and gravel boards before confirming a fitted price.

Matching gates and additional work are specified separately. Send us your postcode, photographs and approximate boundary length to start discussing the options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fencing in Birkenhead

1. How much will my fencing installation cost?

Our panel-fencing guide starts from £125 per section for the specification described above. Cross-and-rail installations require an individual quotation because materials and construction vary. Slopes, difficult access, old foundations and gate openings can also affect the total. We confirm the agreed work and price before installation.

2. How long does it take to install a new fence?

A straightforward panel replacement takes approximately one hour per section as a working guide. Cross-and-rail fencing is assembled on site, so its timescale is assessed separately. The length of the boundary, removal work, ground conditions and any gates influence the schedule.

3. Will you remove and dispose of my old fencing?

Yes, removal and disposal can form part of the installation. It is included in the panel-fencing guide above; for individually quoted work, the quotation will confirm the arrangements. Let us know about old concrete foundations, additional waste or vegetation clearance so these can be assessed beforehand.

4. Can you repair my fence instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Where damage is limited and the supporting structure remains sound, we may be able to replace individual panels, boards, rails or posts. If deterioration affects several components, renewing a larger section may offer better value. We inspect the cause of the problem before recommending a solution.

5. Can you fit a matching garden gate?

Yes. We can supply and fit a bespoke timber gate to complement your new or existing fence. We consider the opening width, height, supporting posts and access requirements, then discuss suitable hinges, latches and locking options. Gates are quoted separately rather than assumed to be included in the fencing price.
