Featherboard Fencing Panels Heswall with Concrete Posts

Feather Edge Fencing with Concrete Posts in Heswall: A Recent Installation

An old fence can make an otherwise attractive garden feel exposed and unfinished. At a recent property in Heswall, the existing timber fencing had become rotten and was no longer providing the privacy or security the owners wanted.

We removed it and installed new feather edge fence panels with concrete posts, creating a stronger boundary and a much smarter finish.

Removing the old fencing we began by taking down the rotten fence in sections.
This gave us room to work without leaving old timber and fixings scattered around the garden.
We removed the damaged panels and posts, then cleared the dismantled materials from the site for appropriate disposal.
Once the old fence was out of the way, we could see the boundary properly.
This stage matters: a new fence needs sound supports and a clear line, particularly where the previous posts have deteriorated or moved over time.

We checked the route for the replacement fence before marking out the positions for the new concrete posts.
Clearing the fence line, weeds and shrubbery had grown around parts of the old fencing.
We cleared the growth along the working area so there was space to dig, set the posts and fit the new panels.
Removing vegetation from the immediate fence line also helped us see the ground levels and avoid trapping branches behind the finished fence.A tidy working area makes the installation more accurate.
It allowed us to position the posts along the boundary and check that the panels would follow a consistent line.

We kept the surrounding garden in mind throughout the job, clearing what was needed for the installation rather than treating the whole space as a building site.
Installing the concrete posts with the fence line prepared, we dug post holes approximately 600 mm deep for the new concrete posts.
The posts form the backbone of the fence, so their spacing and alignment had to suit the panels and the conditions along the boundary. We positioned each post, checked it for level and alignment, then secured it using postcrete.
We continued along the fence line, checking the posts against one another as we worked. Taking care at this stage helped the finished panels sit neatly between them, with a consistent height and a straight overall appearance.

Concrete posts were a practical choice for this Heswall garden. Unlike timber posts, they will not rot where they meet the ground. They also provide sturdy support for the fence panels and make it more straightforward to replace an individual panel in the future if one is damaged.

Fitting the Feather Edge Panels after setting the posts, we fitted 1800 mm × 1800 mm feather edge fence panels between them. The overlapping timber boards create a solid-looking boundary that offers substantially more screening than an open fence style.

We checked each panel as it went into place, paying attention to its fit, height and the way it lined up with the next section. The warm timber finish sits well against the concrete posts and gives the boundary a clean, structured look. From inside the garden, the new fence provides a more private setting; from outside, it presents a neat edge to the property.
Once the panels were installed, we checked the full run of fencing and cleared the remaining installation materials from the work area.

The finished garden boundary the difference is clear. Where the rotten fencing had left the garden looking tired and less secure, the new feather edge panels provide a stronger, more dependable boundary.

The solid panels improve privacy, while the concrete posts offer durable support that should serve the garden well for years to come.

The fence also complements the property and makes the outdoor space feel more complete.

Its straight lines and consistent finish improve the view across the garden and the property’s appearance from outside.

A well-maintained boundary can also strengthen a home’s kerb appeal, although any effect on property value will depend on the property and market.

This Heswall installation shows how replacing a failing fence involves more than fitting new panels. Removing the old materials, clearing the line, setting the posts carefully and checking every section all contribute to a result that looks good and works for everyday use.
